Dr. Moustafa Ahmed

 

Dr Moustafa Ahmed has been in practice for over 8 years.  He completed his undergraduate work at Hood College in Frederick, MD, completing a Bachelors of Arts in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.

He gained experience in between his undergraduate work and medical school as a private environmental consultant completing regulatory work for the EPA.

He then attended medical school at The George Washington University.  He then went on to complete his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville in 2004.  He completed his fellowship in subspecialty training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Georgetown University.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology/Hepatology.  He served as the Subsection Chief of the Department of Gastroenterology at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md for 3 years.

He is happy to continue his practice in the Frederick area, serving the community he was brought up in. He grew up both in the DC area and Egypt.   He is an avid traveler, basketball and soccer player.  He loves spending time with his family and friends.

He feels at home in the Washington DC area, and is once again happy to serve the community that he grew up in.

Dr. Halim Charbel

 

Dr. Charbel received his medical degree in 2002 from the Saint Joseph’s University School of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon where he was born and raised. He completed his internal medicine residency in 2006 and his gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition fellowship in 2009 at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington DC. In addition to his training in general gastroenterology, Dr. Charbel gained expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures, such as endoluminal stenting, endoscopic mucosal resection and endoscopic ultrasound. He published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented scientific posters at national gastroenterology meetings.

After his fellowship, Dr. Charbel joined the Peninsula Regional Medical Group on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where he established Peninsula Regional Gastroenterology Medicine. He built a successful GI practice and became the Director of Gastroenterology of the Peninsula Regional Medical Group and the Medical Director of the Peninsula Surgery Center. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Charbel enjoyed teaching and interacting with healthcare providers in training. He joined the University Of Maryland on the Eastern Shore as a Clinical Instructor of Gastroenterology for the Physician Assistant Program, and welcomed trainees to rotate in his practice.

In 2017, Dr. Charbel moved to Montgomery County and established Digestive Care Specialists, with the goal of providing comprehensive and high-quality gastrointestinal care to the community. He plans to continue his multidisciplinary approach to digestive health by working closely with established treating physicians and other healthcare providers.

Dr. Charbel is a Board certified gastroenterologist, and an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He specializes in gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition and his areas of interest include reflux disease, colon cancer screening, pancreatic diseases and the endoscopic evaluation and management of gastrointestinal cancers.

Dr. Scott Andochick

 

A Frederick native, Dr. Andochick graduated from Frederick High School in 1976. He initially followed in his father’s footsteps pursuing a degree in dentistry from West Virginia University. Following dental school, Dr. Andochick enrolled in medical school at West Virginia University where he graduated with honors and was elected president of Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. Students are accepted into AOA based upon placement in the top 5 percent of their class based on academics, clinical skills, and patient care. 

 Dr. Andochick’s patients choose him for their cosmetic surgery because of his extensive training and extraordinary skill. They recommend him to their friends and family members because of his thoughtful and caring demeanor. His sense of humor with patients and staff helps to alleviate the anxiety that patients naturally feel before and after surgery. Dr. Andochick believes that making an appointment at the Andochick Center isn’t about scheduling surgery - it’s about becoming an informed patient. He wants to talk with you about your life, your goals, and the partnership you would like to build with him and his staff. It is part of the specialized approach he takes. He wants to work with you to reach realistic and quality cosmetic surgery goals. 

Dr. Rami Makhoul

 

After completing his fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Rutgers University, Rami Makhoul, MD, joined Holy Cross Hospital in 2014 to serve patients in the DC Metropolitan area. In January 2018, he joined Metro Colon and Rectal Surgery PC.

Upon graduating from medical school, Dr. Makhoul first completed his internship in General Surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He then completed his residency training in General Surgery at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC.

During his residency training at GW, Dr. Makhoul spent a year in clinical research where he published much of his work in colon and rectal cancer, and the use of Robotic Surgery in various abdominal procedures.  He continued with his passion for research and published peer-reviewed articles during his fellowship training. Several of his works were presented at national conferences including the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery, and the Society of American and Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons annual conferences.
